Gluten Free Masala Dosa

Cooking Time-  30 minutes 


To Make Dosa Batter:

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1/2 cup split black grams (udad dal)
  • Water
  • Salt to taste

To Make Gluten Free Masala:

  • 2 raw bananas, boiled and chopped
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • Pinch of asafoetida
  • 7-8 curry leaves
  • 1 green chilli, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste

To Make Sambar:

  • 1 cup split red grams ( toor dal )
  • 1 cup tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup bottle gourd, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp sambar powder
  • Salt to taste
  1. Wash and soak rice and soak black gram all night to swell.
  2. Grind both together using less water.
  3. Leave it for 5-6 hours to ferment.
  4. Add salt and mix.
  5. Keep the batter aside.
  6. Boil,remove and cut the raw banana into pieces.
  7. In a hot pan,add oil and mustard seeds. 
  8. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida into the pan.
  9. Now add green chillies and curry leaves and mix it well.
  10. Add raw bananas,turmeric powder,chilli powder and salt. Mix the ingredients well.
  11. Cook for 10-11 min.
  12. Remove the mixture in the bo and let it cool.

For Sambar:

  1. Pressure cook red grams and tomatoes in a pressure cooker.
  2. Once done,add all dry masala to the cooker and blend the mixture in a blending jar.
  3. Cook out on a medium flame for 5-10 min.
  4. Add tempering according to your preference. Your sambhar is ready.

To Prepare Dosa:

  1. In a non stick tawa sprinkle some water and wipe it properly.
  2. Spread one spoon dosa batter into the tawa.
  3. Sprinkle oil on edges.
  4. On half of the dosa,place the gluten free masala.
  5. Using a flip,turn the other half of the dosa.
  6. Serve the Dosa with green chutney or coconut chutney.
  7. Enjoy the healthy gluten free masala Dosa.
